Our Programs
From the very beginning, the Y’s childcare programs nurture the potential of every child. Each day, children experience success in a warm, caring and fun environment that stimulates their natural curiosity and encourages personal expression.
We welcome ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. We also offer before & after school care in multiple locations for grades K-6th grade.
School Age
5 to 12 Years*
Even after school's out for the day, children need to be engaged in a comfortable, yet stimulating environment. That's where our YMCA School Age Program comes in. Our before – and after-school program allows school-age children to balance learning and fun through a variety of experiences. From homework help to fun physical activities, our program is designed so that everyone has a great start and end to their school day.
Infant
6 Weeks to 12 Months
Babies grow and learn every day. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing "home away from home" where babies can explore and make new discoveries. We know that learning through play is extremely valuable at this age and our Infant Program is designed to give babies the skills that will serve as the building blocks for a lifetime of learning. As your child becomes more mobile, they will join our Infant-Toddler Transition Room, which will give them all the room they need to roam and grow.
Teach-to-child ratio: 1:4
What to bring?
- Bottles (MUST be taken home daily to be washed)
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Diaper Ointment
- Crib sheet and blanket
- Spare clothing (2 sets)
- Pacifier or Security item (if necessary)
Toddler
1 to 3 Years
At the YMCA, we build on the momentum of your toddlers’ natural curiosity and help them learn at their own pace. Our trained teachers work with your toddler to guide them through learning experiences that stimulate their development. Toddlers who are still developing coordination will enjoy time in our expanded Infant-Toddler Room, giving them the opportunity to gain even more confidence in their skills.
Teach-to-child ratio: 1:5 (Younger Toddler) | 1:6 (Older Toddler)

Early Learning/Preschool
3 to 5 Years
At the YMCA, we reinforce your growing child’s natural desire to explore—turning every moment into an opportunity for learning and encouragement. We've designed our program to nurture your child's growing individuality through days filled with interactive learning and group activities.
Teach-to-child ratio: 1:10
What to bring?
- Crib sheet and blanket
- Spare clothing (2 sets)
- Pacifier or Security item (if necessary)
- For Swimming: Wear a swimsuit under clothes and bring a towel and undergarments in a bag.
Preschool Enrichment
3 to 5 Years
We understand the importance of preparing children for success in school. This unique program stresses learning through action while utilizing the entire YMCA facility for exploration and creative play. Daily lessons are created to boost development through creative age-appropriate activities.
This program follows the Butler Area School District Calendar.
