American Red Cross Lifeguard
(Ages 15+ years) Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive their certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, & CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. After registering for the course through the Y, participants must also pass a skills pre-test on the first day of the course. Pre-test skills include: • Swim 150 yds, tread water for 2 minutes with no arms, swim 50 yards (googles are permitted) • Swim 15 yds, dive down to retrieve a 10 lb. brick & swim back to the wall on your back in 1 min, 40 sec.(googles are NOT permitted). The skills test will be given on the first day of the course and must be successfully completed for a participant to continue with the course.
American Red Cross First Aid
(Ages 15+ years) Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will be certified in American Red Cross CPR/AED and/or First Aid. Certification(s) lasts for 2 years.
YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor
This course provides participants with the basic knowledge and skills to teach YMCA swim lessons. It includes both land and pool sessions and lesson planning, teaching methodology, class organization, class components, and skills for the YMCA progressive program. Prerequisites: Current Certifications: CPR Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen Administration (must provide proof). Registration Information: Must register with YUSA and the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA.
